About

Syd Kennedy is a writer of fiction, primarily of the horror and speculative variety. Her short stories have previously been published in Belmont Story Review and JMWW. In 2018, she served as one of two managing editors and creators of The Butchery, an online zine focused on art and literature relating to the underrepresented subject of butch lesbian identity. She was also a semifinalist of the L. Ron Hubbard Young Writers of the Future contest for science fiction. No, she did not know who L. Ron Hubbard was before she applied.

Born and raised in a small town on the fringe of the Rust Belt in Western New York, Kennedy now lives in Washington, D.C., where she works as a copy editor at a magazine. She has previously paid the bills as a high school history teacher, camp counselor, dog walker, mommy blog photographer, garbage plate busser, video editor, bakery assistant (career cut short due to a shockingly gory bagel slicing incident), social media wrangler, drug dealer (cashier at CVS), desk receptionist, and tour guide.
